There are a few gift catalogs I look forward to receiving this time of year, just for the fun of browsing. One of them in particular contains a wide variety of unusual gifts, many related to my favorite things – writing, cats, and coffee. It offers mugs, posters, wall plaques, hats, garden and patio decorations, and t-shirts. Many have famous quotations or witty sayings imbedded on them. I don’t particularly want them – I have too many knick-knacks already, and don’t wear many T-shirts. I’ve wondered, though, about overlaying them on photos and clip art and setting them up as a slideshow in my digital photo frame. But for now, the best joy is browsing and reading, and smiling!
My favorite this year - I before E, except when eight feisty neighbors seize a surfeit of weighty heifers. (weird, isn’t it?)Here’s a few others -
An oft-mentioned quotation about Louisa May Alcott “She is too fond of books, and it has addled her brain.” On T-shirts: If you can’t stand the heat, don’t tickle the dragon ( I know, not cats or anything, but it just tickled me. I’m easily entertained.) I drink coffee for your protection.(my friends will verify this) My cat/dog can lick your cat/dog ( and your face, your hands, your nose, etc…) A backward poet writes inverse Keep clam and proofread Be careful what you say. It may end up in my next novel. My words can kill ( this one for a mystery writer?) and one we’ve seen before, and other variations on the same theme – but still funny - Let’s eat Grandma. Let’s eat, Grandma. ( commas save lives)find these, and more, at http://www.signals.com
Love these. Especially “Keep clam and proofread.” Thanks for sharing.
Sometimes I worry about all the trees that get cut to make catalogs and begging letters. I also get lots of them. Enjoyed all those clever quotes.
I get way too many catalogs! Love all these quotes especially the Louisa May Alcott one:))
