Well – I forgot to post this Just For Fun this morning, so I’m posting it Friday night instead. I hope you can forgive me. You see, with Christmas in the middle of the week, I had two ‘Mondays’ this week. And it totally discombobulated me. I lost track of what day it was. (sounds like a good excuse, anyway).
The day after Christmas, we call Boxing Day. I thought it was ’cause we threw things away until I did research (I’m glad I did that) and found the REAL reason – hold on to your hat. The privileged will box up gifts for the poor and celebrate Christmas with them once more. A grand tradition, one we should keep, not for just Christmas, but every week. It’s a day when the ‘have’s’ share with the ‘have not’s’. A day when the two might share grace o’er a pot of beans with a ham, or a turkey or two. For being aware we are all people who love all our families, have worries and doubts on why we are here and what life is about.5 Responses

I like your poem, Gayle. I learned something new, too. I like the snow on your blog, too, as I have enjoyed it on mine. But I think the forecast is that it stops snowing on January 4th.
Love the poem and learning something new!!
Thanks, Diane!
I never knew what that meant either; actually, I thought it was a Canadian holiday. Thanks for the information.
Nice! I didn’t know the meaning of Boxing Day. I agree. We should celebrate it every day.
