My first blog was posted one year ago today. So here’s a Special Edition!
It was something that I had considered for several years, and I thank each of you for following and encouraging me.
The Looking Glass has given me new direction. Well, that’s not quite right. It has given me REAL direction. My writing was sporadic at best – I’d write like crazy for a weekend, or maybe every night for a couple weeks, then not get back to writing for a couple months. I had trouble accomplishing my goals. But the blog has taught me how important it is to write on a regular basis.
Now I have weekly deadlines that have to be met. Yes, I know the world would not come to an end if I didn’t post. In fact, I had one week of illness when I didn’t - and I felt so guilty over that! I work well under deadlines…they are like promises, and I hate breaking promises.
I also was afraid that I’d run out of things to say (Yes – really! Those of you who know me personally will think that’s funny…), and now and then I do resort to reading other people’s blogs or newsletters to give me an idea. But for the most part, when I sit down and ask myself, “What should I write about this time?”, I end up with two or three subjects. So I’ve got a lot to keep me going. Whether or not it’s valuable to anybody but me is another matter!
Something else that happened. As I write, I learn. 1) I remind myself of things I had forgotten about, and 2) when I look things up that I want to discuss, I learn more about them. Funny how that happens.
Anyway – It’s been a great year, and – so far, so good – I hope there are more to come.
Thanks again for the support. I love you all.
Gayle

Very proud for you! Many people think of doing BUT you have done. It has been a real benefit for me…it’s like picking your brains on things I didn’t know I wanted/needed to know. seriously, keep up the good work and Happy Birthday to your blog.
